The infrastructures in the ‘R’ train's Montague Tunnel under the East River was heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy, and has significantly corroded, causing signal problems and other types of delays. This project was set to fix/rehabilitate and replace/reconstruct/renew the damaged components of the tunnel. Repairs was conducted on the Tubes on the R lines between Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. Haider Engineering is providing Construction Management and Inspection Services for this project. Haider Engineering personnel also performed the following task as part of their objectives: Inspection/coordination of MEP work performed by the contractors to ensure it follows contract documents and all applicable codes Attend construction meetings with clients and contractors and prepare reports Monitor safety to make sure that all personnel of contractors and subcontractors as well as NYCTA strictly comply with all safety requirements Field inspection of construction resolve field issues and prepare detailed inspection daily reports Prepare field condition survey reports, field sketches and scope of works for change orders, cost estimates and contractors’ payments and other tasks as may be required of the SOW.

The existing Bus Command Center located at 25 Jamaica Avenue, 3rd floor, East New York was well past its useful life. The system was technologically obsolete and beyond a State of Good Repair. Also, the New York State Building Code-2010 required that any new Command Center be housed in a building that conformed to the new seismic requirements of the NYS Building code. Haider Engineering (HE), as sub consultant to Parsons Brinckerhoff, provided Construction Management and Inspection Services for the New York City Transit Authority (NYCT) Department of Buses (DOB) and the MTA Bus Company. These professional services were provided in accordance with NYCT Project Management Procedures (PMPs) and Project Management Guidelines (PMGs).
